PS Plus October 2026 games have been announced, giving PlayStation owners a useful opportunity to plan their next downloads before the new selection becomes available. This guide puts the dates and console versions first, then explains how to claim the games and avoid paying for the wrong listing.
Checked on October 1, 2026. If you are browsing from the United States, the UK, Italy or elsewhere in Europe, use the PlayStation Store associated with your own account for the final availability check.
October 2026 lineup and claim dates
Sony announced the selection on September 30. The claim window runs from October 6 through November 2, 2026. The announced games are:
- F1 25 — PS5: Formula One racing with Career and My Team 2.0.
- Hunt: Showdown 1896 — PS5: an extraction shooter built around dangerous hunts and escaping with a bounty.
- Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 — PS5 and PS4: voxel-style action with team building and cooperative play.

What should you do before October 6?
Our recommendation is to make a short checklist today rather than waiting until the final day. Write down your console model, the account you use for purchases, and the date you want to check the new lineup. Set a reminder for October 6 and another a few days before the claim window closes.
If you own a PS4, concentrate on the PS4 version listed above. Do not assume every game in a monthly announcement supports both consoles. If you own a PS5, compare the title and edition on the store page with the table in this guide before proceeding.
Also review your subscription renewal date. A monthly lineup can look attractive, but the useful question is whether you will actually play it. We suggest choosing one game you want to try first instead of starting three large downloads simply because they are available.
How to download the monthly games on PS5
- Sign in to the account with your eligible PlayStation Plus membership.
- From the Games home screen, open PlayStation Plus.
- Open the Benefits tab and select Monthly Games.
- Choose the game and select Download.
How to claim a supported game on PS4
- Open PlayStation Plus from the function screen.
- Select Monthly Games.
- Highlight a supported title and choose Add to Library, then Download.
These steps follow PlayStation’s official monthly-games instructions. Sony also supports remote downloads through a browser or the PlayStation App. Check that you are signed into the intended account before using either method.
Do you need Extra or Premium?
Monthly games are a benefit of Essential and the higher tiers. The Extra Game Catalog and Premium classics are separate benefits. You do not need to upgrade solely to access an eligible monthly-game selection. Read the plan comparison inside the official store before changing a subscription, especially if a promotion highlights a higher tier.
For the distinction between plans, see Sony’s official PlayStation Plus guide.
Are the games yours permanently?
Access depends on the membership. Sony explains that cancellation leaves benefits available until the paid period finishes; after the subscription ends, monthly-game access is lost. Adding a title does not convert it into a separate permanent purchase.
Review Sony’s cancellation guidance if you are considering stopping renewal. Our advice is to decide on the subscription cost independently of any headline describing the games as “free.”
What if the store still shows a price?
Start with the date: October 1 is announcement week, while the new claim window starts October 6. Before that date, seeing a purchase price does not prove that your membership is broken.
On release day, our suggested checks are simple: confirm the correct account, inspect membership status, check the console version, and compare the edition name. Read the final checkout screen carefully. If it still asks you to pay when you expected a membership claim, stop and consult PlayStation Support instead of completing the purchase as a test.
Do not enter your PlayStation password into third-party “claim” pages. Use the console store, official PlayStation website or official app. This guide does not provide activation keys, unofficial installers or modified game files.
Which game should you download first?
Our editorial suggestion is to match the first download to your next gaming session. Choose racing if you want to focus on driving, the extraction shooter if you prefer a tense hunt, or the voxel action game if that style appeals to your group. These are suggestions based on the announced genres, not hands-on review scores.
Before inviting friends, agree on the same game and supported console version. Let each person check their own store listing. That small preparation can prevent a session from turning into an evening of account and download troubleshooting.
Do not overlook September’s claim deadline
Sony says September’s monthly selection remains claimable until October 5. Check our September 2026 PlayStation Plus guide before the changeover.
Planning another console purchase? Our GTA 6 release date and safe pre-order guide explains another upcoming release. Keep monthly subscription claims and separate game purchases as two different decisions.
Your next step: mark October 6, confirm your account and console, and use the official Monthly Games section when the lineup goes live. Check your regional store again before the November 2 deadline.
