Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are open through Rockstar’s official links. If you have seen a “GTA 6 PC download” promising early access, pause: Rockstar’s current release page does not list a PC version or PC launch date. Here is what is confirmed, what still needs an announcement, and how to buy the right version safely.
When is GTA 6 coming out?
Rockstar lists Thursday, November 19, 2026 as the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI. The date is the same on its official game page and its pre-order announcement. Release plans can change, so check Rockstar’s GTA VI page again before spending money or making travel plans. This article was checked on September 28, 2026.
The game returns to Vice City and the wider state of Leonida. Rockstar describes Jason and Lucia as the central characters in a story involving a failed job and a criminal conspiracy. You can watch the trailers on Rockstar’s site to see the setting without relying on leaked footage or unverifiable “gameplay” clips.
Which platforms are confirmed? Is there a PC version?
The currently announced launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar does not list a Windows PC edition on its GTA VI release page as of September 28, 2026. That means there is no official PC pre-order or PC system-requirements list to use for this launch. It does not prove a PC version will never happen; any future platform announcement would have to come from Rockstar.
Do not confuse console pre-loading with a PC download. A file claiming to be a free GTA VI setup for Windows before an official PC release is not a legitimate route to the game. Avoid installers, torrents, activation keys and “beta invitations” sent through ads or direct messages. For a legitimate PC game you can play today, see our guide to free-to-play games on Steam; those are separate games, not GTA VI.
How to pre-order GTA 6 safely
- Open Rockstar’s official GTA VI page and choose Pre-Order Now, or start from its official pre-order help page.
- Select the platform you actually own: PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Check whether you are buying the Standard or Ultimate Edition, and read the included content before paying.
- Confirm the store region matches your platform account. This matters especially if you are buying a boxed copy or a digital code while travelling or from a foreign retailer.
- Read the checkout total, currency, delivery method and refund terms in the store. Save the order receipt and keep your console account secure with two-step verification where available.
Rockstar’s platform and editions support page warns that codes may need to match the region of your PlayStation account. Its advice is to buy from a retailer in the country of your platform account to avoid activation trouble. Xbox code rules differ, so check the same official page for current details. For example, a buyer with an Italian PlayStation account should not assume a US code will redeem. The game is listed in Rockstar’s Italian store as well as its international storefront; check your local store for the price in your currency.
Standard, Ultimate and the physical box
The Standard Edition is the base game. Rockstar also advertises an Ultimate Edition with additional in-game items; compare its official description against the base edition before deciding if the extras are worth your money. A special bundle or bonus is not necessary to play the main story.
An unusual detail deserves attention: Rockstar says the physical edition contains a digital download code in the box. Do not expect a playable disc unless the retailer and Rockstar later publish different terms. A code also makes your account region relevant. If you are giving the game as a gift, check the recipient’s console, account country and internet access before ordering.
Rockstar says pre-loading starts at local midnight on November 12, 2026. Pre-loading installs files in advance; it does not unlock play before the November 19 launch. The official pre-order announcement also mentions the Vintage Vice City Pack for qualifying purchases before November 20 and a free month of GTA+ with eligible digital pre-orders. Read the offer terms and subscription renewal details in your regional storefront; never assume a bonus applies to every seller or edition.
Is GTA 6 included with PS Plus or Game Pass?
Rockstar’s launch and pre-order materials describe a paid game and do not announce a PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass launch inclusion. Do not treat a social post claiming “free with subscription” as confirmation. Subscription libraries change over time; verify future additions in the official service catalog. Our PlayStation Plus September games guide and Xbox Game Pass September guide explain how to check their separate current catalogs.
Quick answers before you buy
Can I play GTA 6 on PS4 or Xbox One?
Those older consoles are not on Rockstar’s announced platform list. Select PS5 or Xbox Series X|S in the official store rather than assuming a previous-generation version exists.
Can I download GTA 6 for free on PC?
No official PC release or free PC download is listed. Use Rockstar’s official page for any future announcement, and never run an installer advertised as an unreleased build.
Can I buy it in the US or Europe?
Rockstar’s pre-order support page lists the United States and many European countries, including Italy, among supported markets. Availability, prices, taxes and codes can vary by location and retailer. Follow the official link for your account’s region and verify the checkout terms.
In short: GTA VI is currently set for November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-loading from November 12. Start with Rockstar’s official page, match the edition and region to your account, and wait for a direct announcement before believing claims about a PC release or a subscription giveaway.
